Politics in Pakistan

We have a distorted perception of politics. We have attached negative connotations with it. We have come to belief that only the person who is able to hold the control or authority for a long period of time (no matter if it's at the expense of the public) is a good politician. That is essentially wrong!Politicians are people of principles and not players for power! Due to the bumpy track-record of politics in general and democracy in particular, people have started to believe that any person who doesn't know how to bend on his/her principles can't be a good politician. We have forgotten the difference between self-interest and selfish interest. Self interest is acceptable in politics but selfish interests have no place in politics. We need to change our mentality; a person who can manipulate is NOT a good politician, a person who can manage is! A person who can come to terms with his/her adversaries just to save his position is not a good politician, he is a good player. A good politician will stand by his words and honour his/her principles. Politics is not for the benefit of the parliamentary members or party personnels, politics is for the greater good of the public. It's time we redefine our criteria for judgement. Politics is about purpose first, power second.

Politics is a noble profession corrupted by its professionals

  3. One can try to bridge the gap between ideal and real. Thats all we can do. Improve. Strive. Unless we think in the right direction, things wouldn't change.
